She lived much of her adult life in France, where she first befriended\u00a0<a title=\"Edgar Degas\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Edgar_Degas\">Edgar Degas<\/a>\u00a0and later exhibited among the\u00a0<a title=\"Impressionists\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Impressionists\">Impressionists<\/a>. Cassatt often created images of the social and private lives of women, with particular emphasis on the intimate bonds between mothers and children.<\/p>\n<p>She was described by\u00a0<a title=\"Gustave Geffroy\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gustave_Geffroy\">Gustave Geffroy<\/a>\u00a0in 1894 as one of &#8220;les trois grandes dames&#8221; of Impressionism alongside\u00a0<a title=\"Marie Bracquemond\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Marie_Bracquemond\">Marie Bracquemond<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a title=\"Berthe Morisot\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Berthe_Morisot\">Berthe Morisot<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gavinart.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Unknown.jpeg\" rel=\"lightbox[389]\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-393\" title=\"M.
